Located in the heart of Champaign, IL, Bobo's Barbecue is a must-visit for any barbecue aficionado seeking authentic, hearty flavors served with down-to-earth hospitality. Specializing in classic American barbecue, Bobo's offers a rich menu that celebrates smoked meats crafted with care and a mastery that speaks to true barbecue tradition.

The aroma that greets you upon entering Bobo's is irresistible—a smoky mix of hickory and spices that sets the stage for a memorable meal. Their standout dishes showcase a variety of tender, slow-smoked meats that practically melt in your mouth. From the juicy Pulled Pork and perfectly charred Beef Brisket to the rich, savory Sausage and succulent Rib Tips, each bite bursts with smoky depth and flavorful seasoning.

For a truly indulgent experience, try the Three Meat Sampler with Two Sides, which allows you to savor a selection of Bobo’s finest smoked meats paired with classic sides like baked beans, green beans, or the creamy Chipotle Mac and Cheese. The Brisket Plate with Polish Sausage, Mac Cheese, French Fries, and Cornbread is a hearty feast that perfectly balances smoky, spicy, and sweet flavors, including that soft, comforting cornbread that even skeptics rave about.

Bobo's doesn’t just stop at meats—their inventive sauces elevate each dish. Fans rave about choices like the bold “Hot” BBQ sauce and the uniquely delightful “Cherry Cayenne,” which adds a smoky-sweet kick with a subtle cherry undertone that customers like Sky Perez found so irresistible they purchased a pint to take home.

The dining atmosphere is cozy and inviting, reminiscent of a small-town eatery where everyone feels like a regular. While the seating area is on the smaller side, it adds to the charm and intimate vibe that many patrons appreciate. The fast, friendly service, paired with great prices, makes Bobo’s a standout spot where quality and value meet.

Regulars like Tony Sen can’t stop raving about the delicious food and friendly staff, mentioning how the prices and sauces are exceptional, and expressing surprise that this gem isn’t more widely known. Others, like Israel Quiñones, attest to the consistently high quality of the meats—especially the brisket—and how a return visit only reinforced its top-tier reputation.

Whether you’re craving a quick lunch of a Chopped Brisket Sandwich with Dr Pepper BBQ sauce or planning a feast with a Platter of Sausage and Brisket with Green Beans and Baked Beans, Bobo’s Barbecue promises a smoky, flavorful experience that’s deeply satisfying and authentically Southern. Their offerings of meat by the pound—ranging from pulled pork to half slabs of ribs—also make it a fantastic choice for catering or take-home meals.

In sum, Bobo’s Barbecue is a treasure trove of mouthwatering smoked meats, thoughtful sides, and attention to sauce that will leave any barbecue lover delighted. If you find yourself in Champaign craving genuine barbecue with a welcoming atmosphere and flavors that linger, Bobo’s is the place to be.

Always enjoy eating at Bobo's. The dining area could be larger but it gives it a small town feel. I had the Pulled Pork Plate with fries, and potato salad. Had a couple buns added to the plate so I could make sandwiches. Had more than enough pork for 2 sandwiches. I normally get the "Hot" BBQ sauce but got the "Cherry Cayenne" today. The cherry flavor was amazing. I ended up buying a pint of the sauce to take home.

Very good. Had the two meat platter with pulled pork and brisket. Many choices for sauce. Got a late pic of the meat. So hungry we already started. Also got baked beans and potato salad both of which were very good. Came with a little rectangle piece of cornbread that wasn't bad and I'm not really into cornbread. Certainly recommend you try it. Two platters with two meats two sides large fountain drink of your choosing, just over $32

Decent place. Smaller which isn't a bad thing. Several different sauces to choose from. Meats were good. Sides were okay. Overall, would return. BBQ is all about the meat and they had it covered pretty well. Good people, fast service. Worth the visit!

*UPDATE decided to go back since the quality wasn't necessarily bad. Second time around the brisket was much better. They could've had an off day when I came or just the cut that I received wasn't the best. But on my second time coming the brisket was much much better. Highly recommend updating to 5 stars I wanna start this review off by saying I am a brisket connoseoir and I have extremely high expectations when it comes to brisket... I've had from The truth Barbeque in Houston Texas all the way up to blackwood and smoques in Chicago. I think the main takeaway from this place was the value and the sauces. The prices inside are cheaper than what you see online don't let the online prices deter you from coming like It did me for a while. The brisket I will be honest was maybe a touch or two better than average. The pieces I had didn't have much bark if any. The flavor alright I think the sauces are what made the dish stand out. The side dish was very good and something different chipotle cheese fries are definitely recommended. Overall I think we are lucky to have this place local as it's a great place that serves pretty decent barbeque at a price locals can afford. Your platters will cost about what you find in most other places but they have the competition beat with the sandwich prices and the sides too. Would recommend definitely coming back for lunch

Our first visit to Bobo’s did not disappoint! Between us we had the pulled pork, brisket, and burnt ends, along with delicious cornbread, mac n cheese, baked beans, potato salad, and crispy French fries. Sooo much food! The meat was delicious, not greasy at all! Their cornbread was warm and fresh! And the sauce selection was incredible! The fave was the pineapple horseradish - delish!! We will definitely go back!
